troubleshooting auto engine overheating
Engine is Overheating....WHY? (continued)?
This link was my initial question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag.mXJPCvNp6xqLea.9VKd_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090623195612AAfZaFy
After checking out some of the answers & other troubleshooting auto sites I went back out to the van(town & country), took off the radiator cap & looked inside...it was nearly empty(even tho the reserve coolant tank was full).
So I took a cup of water & poured it into the radiator...afterwards I took it for a drive & the temperate gauge never even moved from the normal temp range it usual starts at(near the middle). I drove for about 10 minutes going up to 50 MPH..and it stayed at it's normal temperate throughout the drive.
Could it possibly be a clogged tube or is it the radiator itself. But maybe it could be the water pump?
I really wanna narrow this thing down so when I bring it into a shop they won't say..."You need to have this..this..this..and those replaced..and that will cost X amount of money..."
Go get some radiator flush from the parts store. They will know where it is. Follow the directions. If the problem still happens after you have it done then yeah I would say your water pump is probably bad.
